RE: My new toy - Highpower - 07-06-2013 Any guesstimate on what it weighs in at? RE: My new toy - TomG - 07-06-2013 That's a beast Tony. It's been a long time since I've run a lathe that big and there's a lot you can do with that kind of HP. I had the privilege of running a 19" Regal once and it cut steel like butter. I'd like to see some video once it's up and running. Tom RE: My new toy - Tony Wells - 07-07-2013 Ed, I believe it is a 2 TPI leadscrew. HP, book weight is ~5500 lbs (2200 KG) Yeah Tom, no substitute for power. I'll try to get some chips popping off it when I get it under power. I have to experiment a little with making a video. Ironic. Part of my living is from video surveillance systems and security, but I don't own a standard video camera. I have a dozen security cameras on hand at any given time, but never gave any thought to making a recording of anything other than monitoring the designated areas of a customers facility. RE: My new toy - krv3000 - 07-07-2013 nice bit of kit RE: My new toy - Tony Wells - 07-08-2013 If anyone has time to be bored, and is interested, here is a link to the loadout pictures, about 75 or so. Copied straight from address bar: http://s790.photobucket.com/user/GrayLox_album/library/?sort=2&page=13 Might be because I am logged in as the user. Checking on alternate link. Try http://s790.photobucket.com/user/GrayLox_album/slideshow/ start at page 13 for the lathe RE: My new toy - EdK - 07-08-2013 You weren't kidding about her taking a boat load of pictures. It looks like that trailer was maxed out to its weight capacity. Ed RE: My new toy - Tony Wells - 07-08-2013 It's probably the heaviest thing on it.....yet. There is a radial drill I am eyeballing at that shop too. It pulled well, even with a tired old 305 though. Trailer is all steel, and well built. Made for car hauling, I suspect it really wasn't overloaded. Much... |
