RE: Machine I D tag restoration? - Micktoon - 02-12-2013 I am looking forward to seeing the finished plate Bob, I have done a couple of the alloy cast ones, sand and polished the raised lettering then spray painted the plate then as you say either carefully sand back with wet and dry or I have also if the lettering is sharp edged wiped the paint back off the raised letters with tee shirt type cotton cloth damp with thinners folded up into tight ball, if the lettering has been buffed up before being sprayed it works great. This is on bigger type letters like on the Bridgeport alloy sign on the side of Bridgeport top ram. Cheers Mick. RE: Machine I D tag restoration? - krv3000 - 02-17-2013 thanks all for the comment's for those that wont to mack their own sum tips silver on black IE silver lettering with a black border this is the way i do it i no it as line etch its a rub on transfer for making curcet Bord's and letter mask the line etch is acid resistant but cums off in soapy water mark out wot you need then spray black then remove the line etch then give it a cot of lacer the other way is to find your nearest vinyl sticker printer and get him to print you sum text on masking sheet as this peels off esey and as with the line etch place the text on the plate then spray remove the text then give it a cote of lacer |
