That's an old trick from way back that I've used before. I prefer to use chalk though since I have chalk but I ran out of lipstick. And, that doesn't work when you've got outlets installed already and there's no way in hell I'm going to take them out. They were a bugger to install. 12 gauge wire is a pain to work with compared to 14 gauge. I also think their outlet making stamp looks like a great ideal. That's why I did all the wiring here in pipe and used stranded #12. RE: Looking At A Bigger Mill - Sunset Machine - 10-20-2015 Conduit is a wonderful thing! RE: Looking At A Bigger Mill - EdK - 10-24-2015 Change of plans, literally. I rearranged the floor plan, again. This will allow access to the back of the lathe since the electrical box and motor are back there. After I install the VFD and 3-phase motor on the lathe, the electrical box will get relocated to the wall to the right of the lathe. This rearrangement also gets the shelves inside the shop space and moves the desk out where it's less likely to be bombarded with swarf. Of course this means the duplex outlet I installed now has to come out and relocated. I'm sure glad I didn't drive home the nails on the piece of luan plywood I installed on the wall. I left the heads proud of the surface just in case this would change. So back to square one, I guess. I like this layout better so it's worth the work to change it. If you think you have enough, add more. Tom RE: Looking At A Bigger Mill - EdK - 10-24-2015 (10-24-2015, 12:17 PM)TomG Wrote: Looks good Ed, but where is the fridge? Thanks Tom. Right now I have a 4ft florescent light directly over my lathe and an incandescent goose-neck task light attached to the back splash. I'll be adding probably three more florescent light fixtures to the shop area and then I need to figure out what I'm going to use for task lighting on the mill. I like the goose-neck lights with the real long goose necks so I'll probably get a couple of those for the mill. Oh, and I'll fit a fridge in there somewhere, possibly underneath the work bench. Or simply remember that there is an outlet behind "all that stuff" that you can not get to with the current configuration but will be very handy and show what a forward thinker you are when you decide to change things around again. That's how I'd [have actually] rationalize it Arvid RE: Looking At A Bigger Mill - EdK - 10-24-2015 (10-24-2015, 01:32 PM)arvidj Wrote:(10-24-2015, 11:21 AM)EdK Wrote: Of course this means the duplex outlet I installed now has to come out and relocated.
