RE: Todays Project - What did you do today? - awemawson - 11-10-2013 Today I decided that it was time to sort out the workshop and find a home for all the manuals and paperwork that I'd acquired resurrecting my Traub CNC lathe. I wanted my desk space back! I'd intended to box it up and put it on top of the machine cabinets, then I thought I'd investigate how much room there was INSIDE the machine. The electrical cabinets already had a couple of document wallets fixed to rails on the doors - and it seemed to me I could bend up some A4 sized shelves to mount on the same rails. There was room for three shelves in places chosen to a: avoid blocking cooling air and b: not interfere with the electrical controls. Door rails were drilled a convenient size for tapping 6mm, and my recently re-built box and pan folder did sterling work making the shelves. Overall very happy with the result, AND I have my desk back RE: Todays Project - What did you do today? - TomG - 11-10-2013 Nice job on the book racks, that should keep them nice and clean as well. Tom RE: Todays Project - What did you do today? - dallen - 11-14-2013 a while back I made an oil tank to hold the used motor oil that I use for burner fuel when melting cast iron, Yesterday I picked up and heating element for an electric hot water heater and thermostat to put in it. Last night I turned a boss too weld into the tank so I could install the element in it, but I wasn't real happy with the way it turned out. So this morning I made a new one. The boss in the lathe. Pretty simple job, bore it out and cut a 11 pitch thread, and recess for the square rubber gasket. With the element waiting for it to warm up so I can empty the oil from the tank and then cut a hole and weld in the boss, RE: Todays Project - What did you do today? - awemawson - 11-14-2013 Today's a lazy day - I'd promised to take the wife out for the day. Firstly wired in my 'Tramp Oil' skimmer on the Traub CNC lathe - there was an available 'Shucko' (continental 16 amp two pin ) socket near the skimmer but I had no Shucko plugs, but the post man brought me a couple this morning so now it comes on when the lathe is powered up. I also took the opportunity to re-paint an area of floor that was getting worn where my swivel desk chair goes as I'd be out of the 'shop for some hours for it to dry. Then off to Bodium Castle for a dog walk alongside the River Rother, lunch in the castle pub, and a trip to Rye for a bit of antique shop browsing. Hopefully that's a few brownie points stored up for the coming few weeks RE: Todays Project - What did you do today? - dallen - 11-24-2013 shop monster got in the kitchen an made a mess, I found these in the oven where he tried to hide em. little knot head said he was hungry for pie RE: Todays Project - What did you do today? - PixMan - 11-24-2013 Squash or punkin? RE: Todays Project - What did you do today? - dallen - 11-24-2013 pumkin, thought about sweet potato but stayed with the pumkin, shop monsters say's their great!, and yes he got some too. DA RE: Todays Project - What did you do today? - f350ca - 11-25-2013 While we're on the subject of food. Went over to a friends and dug up (through frozen ground I might add, -16 celsius tonight) some horse radish. Peeled it then ground it up with vinegar in the blender. Need to get some bottles tomorrow, filled the 8 cup measuring cup. Now bring on the beef RE: Todays Project - What did you do today? - DaveH - 11-25-2013 Now I feel hungry DaveH RE: Todays Project - What did you do today? - TomG - 11-25-2013 I'll bet it's nice and hot, being that fresh.
