I have another question for Ed, Willie.
How much clearance did swag have between the guide posts and the hole in the guide post bush.

My shafts are 20mm dia, the hole in the bushing I made 20.5mm, so the hole is 0.5 mm (0.020") larger. Now it looks far to big, seemed a jolly good idea at the time Bash Rotfl

.064" difference on mine Dave. Leaves a little wiggle room to allow the dies to self-align a bit I suppose...

Thanks Willie,
Mmm .064" so my .020" should be OK. I agree there must be some room for the dies to align up, may be I should open it up a bit. I'll have to think about this Big Grin

I've thought about it I'm going to open the holes up by another .020" that will give me .040" difference.

Did the 'pointy' bit on the top die.
Tried using the four jaw on the rotary table one end of the top die and the tilting vice the other end. Setting this up proved quite a mission and I just couldn't get it right.
So I decided to just use the one tilting vice and see what happens. Luckily keeping the depth of cuts below .020" it worked quite well. Certainly better than I though it would, may be being 20mm thick helped.

Sorry about the photos - a bit smokey from the cutting fluid.

I'll take some photo's of the finished top die tomorrow.
