I hope your wife will be alright , as for the metal detectors , I have yet to see anyone who really knew how to use them anyway , so I am not too worried . They sadly do have them at all government buildings and such around here ,"makes you wonder what they are afraid of ,doesn't it ".

Time to do something on this project.
Bearing in mind it is a 10 ton log splitter do you think I could (just) bolt the wedge on to the 'I' beam (somehow). It would be nice to be able to take it off to sharpen it or change it.

The only reason I ever needed to sharpen the wedge on my first splitter was due to the fact that it was about .125" to long (toward the pusher)
. After the second "sharpening" with an angle grinder there was no further need.My present splitter has a removable wedge that resides in a rectangular "socket" in the H beam.
That was done with the thought of changing the wedge to a "cross" style wedge in order to split junks into 4 pieces at one pass.
All that said, I agree with Greg.

If you were closer I could get you some wood. My little electric splitter is going to get a workout for sure. I might need a bigger truck too, my S10 looks soo small next to the small pile. My splitter did 3 truck loads so far and works fine, just brought another load home today from there. We did remove a big section of woods for a new pistol range at the gun club and there is some more over the hill and it seems that hardly anyone wants the wood, mostly cherry, so good for me but looking to build a new wood rack.

I took the control valve in to have a detent fitted.
This is the control valve

Now for some reason a detent (or they didn't have the bits) couldn't be fitted.
But not a problem for the guys at Hytec they just swapped the control valve for another.
This one has a detent, so now the ram will retract without having to hold the lever.
