RE: Latest Delivery - Dr Stan - 06-22-2016 (06-21-2016, 11:48 PM)Roadracer_Al Wrote: That's exactly the plan for the cheap Home Depot vise I got for my welding table. I didn't want a nice vise which I'd feel bad about passing welding current through. Exactly my approach except that I use a vise like this which was broken and given to me. The owner of the weld shop seemed to expect it to take the same level of abuse as an American or European made vise. I plan on mounting it to some sort of plate that I can clamp down to the workbench and then put it back on the shelf when I'm done using it. Ed, go back and search for Greg's receiver hitch set-up. I'm going to use his idea for a flat bar bender when I get finally a round-tuit. I really do think that Vinny should have sorted that out by now RE: Latest Delivery - EdK - 06-22-2016 (06-22-2016, 05:30 PM)Mayhem Wrote: Using the search engine on here? Good luck with that one. Using "receiver hitch" I was surprised to find it. Ed RE: Latest Delivery - Rob.Mueller - 06-23-2016 using google is usually a better way to search any forum. site:http://www.metalworkingfun.com/ receiver hitch note the "site:" command followed by the url then the search words. RE: Latest Delivery - rleete - 06-23-2016 Got this handy little tool (Shars, via eBay) last week. Never knew what I was missing. Holy cow, soooo much easier than a file. If you don't have one, get one! Less than $7, shipped. Holy cow, soooo much easier than a file. If you don't have one, get one! Less than $7, shipped. I have the genuine article, a Noga. Actually I have two of them, don't recall how that happened but I've had them over 20 years. I've added a couple different tips for different materials, they're "quick change." I may add the sheet metal edging tip if I remember next time I'm ordering from MSC/Enco or other dealer. That said, I don't use it for everything. The well-worn "burr knife" (a.k.a. bearing scraper) gets a LOT of use because of it's finer control. When my hands give out or start shaking uncontrollably from the heavy drinking or Parkinsons I always have the Noga. ;) (Just kidding about the shakes, I really don't drink and no family history of the disease.) RE: Latest Delivery - DaveH - 06-24-2016 Incredible useful tool DaveH RE: Latest Delivery - Vinny - 06-27-2016 I guess I can call it a delivery since I delivered it to me. At a local auction I was able to pick up a few things. When I bought my mini-lathe, they guy I got it from threw in a bunch of tooling. Bits, hold downs, jacks, chucks and some other things. Unfortunately the keys that were with the chucks were rather useless since someone ground down the centers. Then I saw, and won, this: I have more dial indicators than magnetic stands, then I saw, and won, this: and this: The indicator is dirty and missing the lens so I'll have to look at some of Bob's posts on how to clean it and make a new lens. One of the Starrett stands has a non working magnet switch so I'll have to open it up. Probably a piece of the magnet chipped off. The one with the yellow base and lever sticking straight up is frozen, so that will take some tlc as well. The rest work fine. Then there was something I've always needed, but never could cough up the cash for... A couple missing, but a couple of extras. That's it. About $150 for all of it. |
