Extended point live centres - Mayhem - 09-09-2014

I'm considering buying an extended point/CNC point live centre, as recently I've encountered some difficulties in getting the tool in where I need it.

This is one that Enco does and I'm glad my lathe only has a MT3 tailstock. There is no brand name, only that it is USA made and it's less than 1/2 the price of the Royal one ($194.72 versus $443.15). I'm putting together an order to send to Ken, as I'll be dropping in to visit him next month when I'm in the US on business. With the free shipping and 10% discount with the current September codes, it doesn't hurt as much as it could...

Any thoughts/comments?

Darren,

I have that one. It sure has gone up in price. I think I paid about $120 for it. I have no complaints at all with it and I got it for the same reasons you're looking at it. Not the bargain basement one and not the real expensive one I can't justify. I settled for a middle of the road tool instead.

I think "Made in USA" is the brand name. I've never seen anything that says they actually are made here. 17428
I have other tools made by them though and haven't had any issues with them.

I "bought" a carbide tip half-center on ebay a couple of days ago for $19.95 and the listing showed "10 available". Got an email from the seller yesterday saying they "made an error" with the count, and they didn't have any. Rant
