When I was in college, I worked a night shift at Cargill, bagging seed corn. One night, I was running bags through the sewing machine. A moment's inattention, and no thumb nail. Doc said he couldn't have removed it any better in surgery.
And no, I wasn't wearing gloves at the time.

Didn't get as much done on this today as I wanted to. I was hoping to get the mounting bracket done but just got it machined to size and marked up for machining. Also got the holes drilled and tapped.

Did you try plunge milling for the roughing out part? It's quicker and a lot easier on the end mill.
