what did i buy now?

i thought this was a file for plastic and it does a great job at it but im not sure it is its intended purpose. it is double sided. obviously it is not in its handle in the photo.

A body file for lead and also used on bare metal to highlight high and low spots. Also used extensively when forming and welding aluminum body panels to smooth out the welds.

that is what is called a Vixen file, and if sharp will cut aluminum like a razor.

Excuse me for doubting you but I looked up Vixen file on google (doubting Thomas that I am) and quickly found you to be dead right.
among the many images that prooved you are right this is the one I fancied.

they are sharp as all get out. i never thought about using them on aluminum but that appeals to me much more than body work. i can see me doing more damage on a car to the surrounding areas with these tools than good anyway.
