Mine gets used once in a while but not often, but there are instances when its a must. Just used it to hold the yoke on a cement mixer that needed the end bored to take bronze bushings for the pinion shaft. I know it never happened without pictures.
Free advice is worth exactly what you payed for it.

Quick update - a box of goodies arrived from the US on Friday and amongst the contents was 2 416SS screw on end caps and 1 black pipe housing to replace one that was damaged when I brought them back from the US.
All the parts have been numbered based on the fit of the bearing carriers into the assembly tubes. Also, the adjuster knobs are pinned to the allthread, so they need to line up accordingly. I didn't get much shop time this weekend, as I had to work all morning and then later that evening. Next task is to make the pins to fit the roller bearings and I can progress to welding these into place.

Nice! Those pipes seem to no longer have the black finish of the pipe as it was when they left my shop. I take it you decided to take a clean-up pass on them afterall?

Thanks Ken, I cleaned off the black paint with a wire wheel. Once they are welded into place the whole steady rest will get painted. The end caps and the knobs have been given a coat of clear coat, to protect them. Whilst the 416 SS machines beautifully, it picked up some rust on the trip. One of my nice new Scotch Brite pads made short work of that though
